Assessments at CEVAM cover exclusively the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders.
Assessment and diagnosis
First, after creating a user account and opening a patient file, the patient, his family or the person with the legal authorization have access to the anamnesis and pre-diagnosis questionnaires allowing to collect the elements of the medical and developmental history of the person referred to the clinic. The file will be analyzed by our team to ensure that it is complete before the meeting with the psychiatrist/pedopsychiatrist.

Semi-structured interview for the diagnosis of autism (Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised or ADI-R) done by the psychiatrist or child psychiatrist:
During the first clinical meeting, in the presence of the patient, this very complete and standardized questionnaire is addressed to one (or more) close relative(s) (if possible a parent) who witnessed the first years of life of the person being evaluated. It allows a quantified interpretation and is validated at the international level as a reference tool for the establishment of the diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder. This examination is performed and interpreted by the psychiatrist/pedopsychiatrist. It lasts approximately 90 minutes. The results are included in the final report.
Cost: covered by the RAMQ (sun card)
Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule ou ADOS-2) :
Following the first meeting, the need to continue with the ADOS-2 will be discussed with you. This second examination requires a specific technicality because it integrates, according to the person's level of verbal functioning and age, simple tasks and questions about daily functioning. It is not a question of evaluating the subject's cognitive abilities but of placing him or her in social situations that will allow a precise and quantified evaluation. With the ADI-R, this examination is standardized and constitutes the international reference in the diagnosis of autism. The ADOS-2 can also be used to measure progress. Approximately 60 minutes in length.
Cost: covered by the RAMQ (sun card)
Report writing and delivery:
As already mentioned for ADOS-2 and ADI-R, the different questionnaires and results of the complementary tests will be rated and integrated into the final report signed by our psychiatrist/pedopsychiatrist.
Cost: covered by the RAMQ (carte soleil)
Additional information:
It may be necessary to verify whether the elements provided by the relatives in the ADI-R and those found directly in the assessment or with the ADOS-2 are also present in a broader context. Additional information would then be collected from people in the person's broader network (teachers, caregivers, extended family, etc.) by telephone or observation. These assessment items would either be incorporated into the assessment report or reported independently, depending on the context.
There is no direct charge to the patient for the evaluation or for the report.
A complete evaluation is done in one or two meetings. The report can take a few weeks to complete. The CEVAM Report is submitted via the "My CEVAM Space" website with a secure link sent by email.
